In all construction zones, motorists are asked to reduce speed, obey posted signs, and use extreme caution, as well as continue to be cautious of heavy equipment and construction personnel in the area. PLEASE NOTE: Conditions are subject to change without notice. Double fines for speeding in work zones may be in effect.

Interstates: 

I-25 & University Ave, Mile Marker 1

La Calerita Construction, LLC (Contractor) will have the following closure in place. I-25 will be closed for bridge demolition from 7 pm Friday, Feb. 26 through 6 am Saturday, Feb, 27. Traffic will use the I-25 on-ramp and off-ramp as detours. The southbound I-25 off-ramp is open, traffic using the ramp is only able to turn right or left at University Ave. Access from University Ave. to the southbound I-25 on-ramp will be through the Triviz/University intersection and the new south roundabout. Detour signing will be in place.

Traffic on University Ave. is shifted to the north so that crews can begin to rebuild the south side of the I-25 University and Pan American bridges. Two lanes of traffic are open in each direction (east and west). The I-25 northbound loop ramp is closed for traffic safety. Both eastbound and westbound traffic on University Avenue can access northbound I-25 from the on-ramp at the traffic signal. Regular work hours are Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-5 p.m. although crews may work longer hours or on Saturdays as needed. Traffic control will remain in place 24/7. I-25, Mile Marker 105 to 115, north of T or C 

Mountain States Construction, Inc. (Contractor) will continue paving I-25 on both northbound and southbound lanes from milepost 105 to 115. Expect overnight lane closures in the southbound passing lanes as the contractor is performing these roadway improvements. The southbound rest area at milepost 114 will be closed Sunday Feb 28 for striping, it is expected to reopen on Tuesday Mar. 2. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Construction is expected to be completed by spring 2021.  

I-25, Mile Marker 59 to 72, T or C 

J-H Supply, Inc. (Contractor) will be replacing and upgrading roadside barriers along I-25 in Sierra County. Expect lane closures in the northbound and southbound driving right lane and shoulder as the contractor is performing these safety improvements. Overnight lanes closures can be expected during construction. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Construction is expected to be completed by spring 2021.  

I-10, Mile Marker 19 to 24, Lordsburg 

Mountain States Constructors, Inc. (Contractor) will be closing the westbound off ramp at milepost 24 on I-10. I-10 eastbound off ramp at exit 20B (Lordsburg West), the eastbound on ramp at EXIT 20, eastbound on and westbound off ramp at milepost 24(Lordsburg East) are currently CLOSED due to construction. Traffic can expect various daytime lane closures as well as overnight lane closures as needed. Contractors hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, traffic control will remain in place 24/7. Detour is in place. Construction is expected to be completed spring of 2021. 

I-25, Business Loop, Socorro

Structures Inc., (Contractor) will be continuing with construction on the I-25 Business Loop in Socorro. The Socorro northbound off ramp exit 150 remains closed, the northbound on ramp is open and traffic is on detour cross-over. Please follow construction detour signage. Lane closures can be expected on I-25 northbound and southbound throughout the week. Contractors hours of operation will be from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday. 

I-10, Mile Marker 49, Deming Area

Kimo Constructors, Inc. (Contractor) will be continuing bridge replacement and roadway reconstruction on NM 146 “Hatchita Bridge” at I-10 milepost 49. The Bridge is CLOSED; detour will be in place on the frontage road, Separ exit 42 and frontage road, Quincy exit 55. I-10 eastbound passing lane is closed, westbound lanes are open. Contractors hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday; lane closures and traffic control shall remain in place 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

I-10, Mile Marker 29 to 49, Lordsburg  

L & J, (Contractor) will be replacing the eastbound fence from milepost 32 to 42, east of Lordsburg. Shoulder work ahead signage will be in place as needed. Contractors hours of operation will be from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday. 

US Roadways:

US 180, Mile Marker 120 to 123, Santa Clara

James Hamilton Construction Company (Contractor) will be continuing the installation of the pedestrian trail which includes lighting, signing and pedestrian facilities. US 180 will have a lane closures on the eastbound and westbound right driving lanes with a reduced speed to 35 mph during working hours; traffic control will be in place for the safety of our construction workers. Contractor hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. This project is estimated to be completed by spring 2021.

US 180, Mile Marker 115 to 120, Arenas Valley

Hasse Contracting Co., (Contractor) will have shoulder closures in effect on US 180 on both eastbound and westbound lanes for road repairs in Grant County. The speed limit will be reduced for the safety of the crew. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Project is expected to be completed by early 2021. 

US 180, Mile Marker 114 to 115, Silver City

James Hamilton Construction Company (Contractor) has started roadwork on US 180. Traffic can expect a lane closure on the eastbound lanes on US 180 during working hours. Contractor hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. This project is estimated to be completed by spring 2021.

State Roadways:

NM 152 Bridge Replacement, Hillsboro

The Federal Highway Administration ‐ Central Federal Lands Highway Division (FHWA‐CFLHD) has started replacement of truss bridges project on NM 152. The two existing bridges on NM 152 are between Hillsboro and Kingston. The bridges are located five and seven miles west of Hillsboro within Sierra County. Contractor’s hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The contractor has begun constructing detours on NM 152. Slow down and use caution in the area. Watch for shoulder work and large trucks turning on the roadway.

NM 404 and I-10 Bridge Replacement, Anthony 

AUI, Inc. (Contractor) has begun preliminary roadwork on the replacement of the NM 404 Bridge over I-10 at milepost 162, Anthony exit.  Detours are currently being constructed on the shoulders on NM 404 and on I-10. Expect lane closures on I-10 eastbound. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Traffic control will remain in place 24/7.

 NM 226, Mile Marker 1.50, Berino 

FNF Construction, Inc. (Contractor) will continue with box culvert replacement over the Three Saints Lateral Canal along NM 226 near Berino. During construction, NM 226 will be closed to traffic between mileposts 1.3 and 1.5.  Motorists wishing to cross NM 226 will need to seek an alternate route.  Hours of operation will be from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Traffic control will remain in place 24/7. This project is estimated to be complete by spring 2021.  

NM 187 “El Camino Real”, Mile Marker 15.4 to 16.09, Arrey 

Hasse Contacting Company, Inc. (Contractor) is nearing completion of Bridges located in Arrey. NM 187 is now open to traffic, contractor will continue removing detours.  Contractor’s hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday. Project is expected to be completed by March 2021.  

NM 187 “El Camino Real”, Mile Marker 16.93 to 31.1, Arrey-Caballo 

FNF Construction, Inc. (Contractor) has begun the replacement of Bridges located in Arrey and Caballo. Expect shoulder work operations for detour placement at milepost 31.  This project has 6 structures that will get replaced, three of them bridges (Trujillo Canyon MP 17.1, Seco Creek MP 26.6, and King Canyon MP 30.8) additionally three others are concrete box replacements at milepost 19.52, 22.24 & 22.76. As demolition gets closer detours will be put in place onto I-25 from EXIT 59 (Caballo) to EXIT 63 (Hillboro) and where it allows a shoo-fly style detour around the structure. Bridge demolition will begin at milepost 22.2. Traffic will need to utilize exit 63 and 59 to access locations on NM 187 for both sides of the bridge.  Contractor’s hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday. 

Hatch Safety Improvement Project, NM 26

Hasse Contacting Company, Inc. (Contractor) is finalizing roadway improvement project along NM 26 in Hatch. Roadway is open to traffic along NM 26, side streets are closed for final repairs needed. 

Chip Seal Projects:

US 70 milepost 166 to 177, Las Cruces

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will be preforming “Fog Sealing” with Brooming operations in Dona Ana Co. on US 70 east of Las Cruces.  Drivers can expect lane closures beginning at milepost 166 (past Organ) on the eastbound lanes to the end of District One Maintenance at milepost 177. Once the eastbound lanes have been completed, crews will begin moving to the westbound lanes.  One lane of traffic will remain open, off and on ramps will close temporarily.  Speed limits will be reduced. 

BNSF Railroad Projects – Dona Ana Co:

BNSF (Owner) will be making repairs to the railroad crossing Thursday March 4 on NM 320, Thorpe Rd in Dona Ana County. This railroad projects will be one day repairs from 7:00 a.m. till 5:30 p.m. requiring roadway closures. A detour will be in place on surrounding roadways, please follow signage. 

City of Las Cruces Projects:

Tashiro Drive

Tashiro Drive is scheduled to undergo utilities and roadway reconstruction by Morrow Enterprises, Inc., as part of the City of Las Cruces Tashiro Drive Widening Project. Work will begin Monday, October 26, 2020, and the closure is estimated to last approximately 9 months in duration.  Work will take place between 7 a.m. and as late as 6 p.m. During construction, access to Tashiro Drive from North Valley Drive, or North Motel Boulevard, will not be permitted, signage and detours will be present directing traffic around the closure by way of West Picacho Avenue. Access to the Field of Dreams Facility and Baseball Complex will be available through the parking lot entrance north of Tashiro Drive on North Motel Boulevard.

Van Patten Avenue

Van Patten Avenue from N. Reymond St. to N. Alameda Blvd. is scheduled to undergo roadway and utility improvements by DuCross Construction, LLC as part of the City of Las Cruces Van Patten Avenue Reconstruction Project. Work will begin Monday, November 2, 2020, and the closure is estimated to last approximately 4 months in duration. During construction, access to Van Patten Avenue will not be permitted to through traffic. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained.  Sidewalks will be closed in areas for construction and for the safety of the public. Signage and detours will be present directing traffic around the work zone.

Hoagland Road

As part of the Active Transportation Plan Sidewalk Gap Project, the east bound lane on Hoagland Road between Highland Avenue and Alameda Avenue will be closed to traffic while Two Bit Trucking Co. places new sidewalk between Highland Ave. and Alameda Blvd. The lane closure will be in effect through Wednesday, March 3, 2021 Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:00am and 4:00pm. The official detour for this lane closure will be through McClure Road. Access to businesses and residents will be maintained at all times. 

West bound traffic on Hoagland Road will be maintained at all times.
