The New Mexico Tourism Department (NMTD) has awarded $789,800 to a record 53 communities through the New Mexico Clean and Beautiful Grant Program for FY22. Due to increased interest in the program, NMTD was able to support an additional 16 communities in FY22 compared to FY21.

New Mexico's gems like Route 66, the state's capital city, Sandia Tram, flavorful green chile, and more were highlighted on a national stage as John Quiñones praised the Land of Enchantment.

NMTD Announces Partners for the FY22 Clean & Beautiful Grant Program

The New Mexico Tourism Department (NMTD) has awarded $789,800 to a record 53 communities through the New Mexico Clean and Beautiful Grant Program for FY22. Due to increased interest in the program, NMTD was able to support an additional 16 communities in FY22 compared to FY21. The $789,800 grant program budget for FY22 also represents a $11,100 increase from FY21. NMTD also saw a significant increase of grantee retention in FY22. Nearly 90 percent of FY21 grant recipients applied for the program in FY22, compared to a previous retention rate of 71 percent for FY21.

GALLUP INTERTRIBAL CEREMONIAL

The Intertribal Ceremonial Office, which oversees the administration of the Gallup Intertribal Ceremonial, is announcing an exclusive partnership with KOB TV to produce a one-hour TV special entitled "Spirit of The Ceremonial."
The "Spirit of the Ceremonial", currently in production and sponsored by the City of Gallup, will feature an enchanting presentation of the 99-year-old New Mexico Native American festival and will be televised at 9:00 pm (MST) Thursday, August 19th on KOB TV. read more →

Gallup Intertribal Ceremonial Seeks Artists for Virtual Artisan Market
This year, the Gallup Intertribal Ceremonial will feature a Virtual Artisan Market, allowing Native American artisans to sell their works to new and existing collectors in an online marketplace from August 15-22. The format allows artists to be in "two places at one time," selling their works online while physically being able to sell other works in person. The Virtual Artisan Market will be available at www.GallupIntertribalCeremonial.com.

Interested Native American artists and merchants have until July 30, 2021 to register. Participants will receive exposure in several print, TV and social media channels as well the Gallup Intertribal Ceremonial event which reaches thousands.

Weekly Tourism Research Overview

While statewide occupancy rates continue to climb to record highs since the beginning of the pandemic, optimism about COVID and travel is beginning to trend negatively due to the spread of the Delta variant. According to Destination Analysts, 43% of travelers this week responded with the belief that the situation with COVID is getting worse - compared to just 20% of respondents for the week of July 12.
