February 14, 2022 – Inviting travelers to rediscover southern New Mexico and enjoy the year-round outdoor recreation in the region, Visit Las Cruces is partnering with Alamogordo, Deming, Elephant Butte, Roswell, Silver City, and Truth or Consequences to launch the Scenic Southern New Mexico outdoor initiative and photo contest. Running from February 14–March 21, the contest encourages visitors to experience any of the outdoor trails, national monuments, state parks, businesses and attractions in participating communities, take a photo, and enter to win a variety of travel-related prizes.

With sunshine throughout the year, Southern New Mexico offers those in cooler climates a chance to experience outdoor adventure throughout the winter. It also provides a memorable option for those seeking a multi-destination road trip with breathtaking sights, delectable flavors, and photo-worthy outdoor excursions.

“In Southern New Mexico, you’ll find some of the most iconic attractions and outdoor spaces in the state, as well as some incredible hidden gems to make a one of a kind vacation,” said Dan Trujillo, Interim Media and Marketing Manager for Visit Las Cruces.

“While it’s colder in other areas of the state, we encourage those in Northern New Mexico and neighboring states to plan a road trip down south this winter. In addition to an unforgettable experience, you’ll have the chance to share your photos and win great prizes from participating communities.” 

To enter the photo contest, visitors can explore any of the parks, trails, outdoor spaces, restaurants, breweries, wineries, shops, local businesses, museums or hotels in participating communities. While visiting, take a photo and post it to Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #ScenicSouthernNM. Prizes will include gift certificates, passes to area attractions, hotel stays, and more from participating communities. Prizes will be given away weekly, with a grand prize awarded at the end of the campaign period.
