(Albuquerque, N.M.) – PNM and AVANGRID are proud to participate in the 2022 Next Generation Water Summit (NGWS) as the title sponsor on May 19-20. The theme of the 2022 NGWS is “Growth in a Time of Drought.” PNM and AVANGRID are committed to protecting our environment and that includes conserving our precious water.

According to Glenn Schiffbauer, Co-founder of NGWS and the Executive Director Santa Fe Green Chamber of Commerce, “After four Next Generation Water Summits, the messages from our climate scientists are consistent - these drought-like conditions are here to stay and there is a clear relationship between energy and water. Energy producers have a huge role to play with our water situation and we are thrilled to have PNM AVANGRID as the title sponsor for our fifth Summit, Growth in the Time of Drought. All of us involved in this event recognize that the rapid scaling of renewable energy is a key component in our need for sustainable water conservation in the West.”

On Thursday, May 19, Maureen Gannon, Chief Environmental Officer at PNM, will be presenting on “Navigating Water Resources at PNM.”

This presentation will focus on PNM’s present state and “journey to zero” and how the company’s actions are helping to build a sustainable water future. It will be moderated by Mike Greene, Water Resources Manager at PNM.

Conference goers will also have access to an on-demand panel discussion with PNM, AVANGRID and Pattern Energy featuring Tom Fallgren, VP of Generation at PNM and Laney Brown, VP of

Sustainability at AVANGRID and a representative from Pattern Energy.

"At AVANGRID sustainability is in our DNA, and we are proud to say that 90% of our installed generation capacity is renewable which means we have one of the lowest water use intensities per MWh in the United States," said Ms. Brown.

The evening of May 19, PNM and AVANGRID will be hosting a reception for the community to meet the leadership of PNM and AVANGRID and learn more about our water conservation and reuse techniques and programs. There will be plenty of time for networking with your water-loving peers and community. Glenn Schiffbaur, Ron Darnell with PNM, Laney Brown with AVANGRID and Christine Chavez, City of Santa Fe’s Water Conservation Manager will be speaking at the reception. It will take place at the Inn at the Loretto, 211 Old Santa Fe Trail, Santa Fe, from 5:30pm-7:00pm.

The goal of the 2022 NGWS is to bring together the building and development community, water reuse professionals, and water policy makers in a collaborative setting to share best practices and learn about innovative water conservation and water reuse techniques.
