The New Mexico State University Office of Experiential Learning will host the 18th annual Career Connections Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31 and Wednesday, Feb. 1. This two-day event is open to NMSU students and alumni, along with area community members, and will be held at Corbett Center Student Union, third floor ballrooms.

“The Career Connections Fair is the second largest career fair of the academic year,” said Patricia Leyba, director of Experiential Learning. “Over 90 employers from across the U.S. are ready to kick off the spring recruitment season. Career Connections offers employers the opportunity to recruit for internship and co-op positions as well as full-time employment positions. We’re excited to bring employers and students together to network and make connections.”

Career Connections is open to all majors on both days of the event. Attendance for both fair days is highly recommended.

Students are encouraged to attend pre-fair events to engage with employers prior to the fair.  OEL will be sponsoring the Career Connections Mixer, which will feature the following employers: Horrocks Engineers, Five Rivers Cattle, New Mexico Mutual, Sandia National Laboratories, Garney Construction, Stantec, Fast Enterprises, Panda Restaurant Group, Baker Concrete Construction, Cottonwood Gulch Expeditions and Honeywell Federal Manufacturing and Technologies.

The mixer will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, in Aggie Lounge. This is a casual event to get to know some of the employers who will be attending the fair.

Attendees are encouraged to view the most recent list of employers in Handshake and also review on-campus and virtual events held by employers attending the fair. Handshake is accessible on the OEL website at oel.nmsu.edu or through students’ my.NMSU.edu account. The website also offers employers and students additional resources to assist with recruitment and job search.

It is recommended that students research potential employers in advance and dress professionally for the fair. Resumes should be up-to-date and ready to distribute during the fair. The Student Success Center offers assistance with resume review and interview preparation.
