The public can experience the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum for free on Aug. 26 as part of Community Appreciation Day.


Who: The New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum and the Friends of the Museum.

What: The annual Community Appreciation Day and the 25th Anniversary celebration of the opening of the Farm & Ranch Museum. The day includes the Parade of Breeds cattle program, pony rides for children, a plant sale, a craft activity, and food trucks. Guests can tour all of the Museum’s exhibits, including: The Dairy Spot: Discovery Center, Riding Herd with Billy the Kid: The Rise of the Cattle Industry in New Mexico, Home on the Range: From Ranches to Rockets, Antidotes: Seeing Beauty, Finding Connection, Beyond the Farm: Groundbreaking Agriculture, Wheels & Gears, and much more. Visitors can also check out the Museum’s livestock, including six different breeds of cattle, horses, sheep, and a donkey.



When: Saturday, Aug. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The pony rides are 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., the Parade of Breeds cattle program is at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Cake will be served from 1-2 p.m.

Where: New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum at 4100 Dripping Springs Road in Las Cruces.

Why: This annual celebration provides free admission as a thank you to the community for its support. It’s an opportunity for families and individuals to experience all that the Museum has to offer. This year, the Museum also is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
