Arthur "Art" G. Garcia, 87, a resident of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest Monday, May 25, 2015 at his son's residence in Alamogordo, NM.

He was born October 22, 1927 in Santa Rita, NM to Richard V. Garcia and Emma Gallegos. He resided in Bayard, Riverside, CA; Omaha, NE, Roswell, NM, and Madrid, Spain. He enjoyed being around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; he would find his own strength in their energy.

Mr. Garcia served and retired from the U.S. Air Force for 22 years. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp which became US Air Force on 15 Nov 1945. He made his way up in rank and on 1 Dec 1959 was promoted to the new rank of Chief Master Sgt in the Air Force. On 31 May 1967 he retired from the Air Force and moved to Bayard, NM. He worked at Sharon Steel Corp for many years and then the company was sold to Bayard Mining Corp where he then retired as Chief of Operations.

He was loved and respected by the many people he associated with and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife Rebecca of the family home; three sons, Richard F.Garcia of Tucson, AZ; Ernest "Ernie" R. Garcia of Tucson, AZ; Mark A.Garcia (Tina) of Alamogordo; two daughters, Yvonne Sue Flores (Mike) of San Jose, CA; Kathleen A. Atwood (Chris) of Hyrum, UT; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Garcia (Lynn) of Marcola, OR; one sister, Marie Garcia of Bayard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David "Dave' Garcia.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 27 from 4-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels.   The Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday, May 28 at 12 noon with Pastor Dwayne Gray officiating.  Concluding service interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church 312 Railroad St. in Bayard, NM 88023.
