josephine torres rsJosephine O. Torres, 90, of Bayard peacefully passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Josephine is survived by her three sons, Victor Jr. (Estella), Manuel and Silverio Torres; three daughters, Olga Neff (Albert), Linda Strauss (Don) and Virginia Cuevas; two brothers, Donicio and Arnold Ortiz (Mary); sisters-in-law, Angie Ortiz and Mary Torres. Also surviving Josephine are many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donicio and Maria Ortiz, brothers, Johnny Ortiz and Guillermo Ortiz; sisters, Celia Guzman, Olivia Pena, Maria Ortiz and Martha Ortiz; sons-in-law Andres Gomez III and Paul Cuevas; granddaughter, Patricia Gomez Trujillo; grandson Silverio Torres Jr.

"Mem" , as she was fondly known, will be cherished by many as we were lucky enough to feel her through her love of her kitchen, whether it be cooking your favorite dish or baking that special birthday cake. Her priority was her family, each and every member of her immediate and extended family, she made sure they all felt her love and compassion. Aside from her family, she also enjoyed spending her time playing her favorite pastime, Bingo, at home or the local hall. "Mem" will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The Prayer Vigil and Rosary will be on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at six o'clock in the evening at Baca's Funeral Chapels. Officiating will be Deacon Art Gutierrez. The Funeral Liturgy will take place on Friday, October 6, 2017 at ten o'clock in the morning at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Silver City. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery. Officiating will be Father Oliver Obele. Serving as pallbearers will be Andy Gomez V, Antonio Gomez, Brandon Cuevas, Arnold Ortiz Jr., Daniel Gomez and Chris Trujillo.
