washington 02Julius Washington Jr., was born October 9, 1929 in Thorndale, TX to Madie Bell and Julius Washington Sr. At an early age the family moved to Austin, TX where he attended public schools and was baptized at a local Baptist Church. In March of 1946 at sixteen years of age he joined the Army Air Corps and served for one year and was honorably discharged. In November 1950 during the Korean conflict he was recalled to active military service and served in the U.S. Army until 1956 when he was honorably discharged.

In 1955 Julius was joined in Holy Matrimony to Kellie Mae Bracken, and they were were married for 55 years. In 1964 he was ordained into Deaconship in local Baptist Church in El Paso, TX and served in this capacity in churches in El Paso and at Indian Hills Baptist Church in Silver City, NM for more than fifty years. He also served as a Bible teacher and a guest speaker. He worked in the airline industry and retired in 1991 as a ticket agent supervisor with American West Airlines.

Mr. Washington peacefully departed this life on February 4, 2018. His strength of character, willingness to teach, and his faith will forever be missed. He leaves to treasure his memory, son Darrell Washington (Virginia); daughter, Sheree Montes (Salvador); step-daughters, Kellie Culberson, Doris McEady; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Doris Overton and a host of relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Kellie Washington; son, Harold Washington and step-son Ernest Dunn. Viewing will be held Thursday, February 8 from 12-1pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels.
