Lowell Cain, Jr. of Silver City, NM passed away July 7, 2020, at Millie’s Assisted Living. He was born on  to Lowell Cain, Sr. and Goldie Cross Cain in Elwood , Indiana.

Lowell is survived by his wife of 67 years, Edwina (Winnie) Cain. Lowell and Winnie met while attending school in Illinois and were married on June 18, 1953, in Silver City, NM. They then moved to California. After their first child was born, they returned to Silver City where they lived for the next 26 years.

Lowell managed and then owned the Gila & Silco theaters and the Skyview drive-in theater. He was also mayor of Silver City for three years. 

Lowell had a successful insurance business and eventually focused on real estate. He and Winnie moved to Las Cruces, NM, in 1983 where he continued to work as a realtor until his retirement in 2012, when they moved to Cliff, NM, to be near family.

Lowell is also survived by his three children, Corby Cain of Monument, CO; Julie Means (Clay) of Buckhorn, NM; and Scott Cain of El Paso, TX; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren who fondly know him as Grandy: Jeremy DeLoach (Sandra); Josh DeLoach (Alaina); Chelsea Shock (Brian); Shalako Bradberry (Beau); and Chance Means (Shanna). He is greatly loved by Brennan, Bryson, and Cambree Shock; Treven DeLoach, Mason DeLoach, Crossyn Means, and BayJ Bradberry.

The family would like to thank the staff of Millie’s Assisted Living for the kind and compassionate care they provided during Lowell’s residency there.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gila Valley Baptist Church in Gila, NM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Lowell’s name to Millie’s Assisted Living or the Gila Valley Baptist Church.
