Rito Reyes Placencio, 96, of Silver City entered eternal rest on Tuesday September 22, 2020, at Gila Regional Medical Center.

Rito was born May 22, 1924 in Gila, New Mexico to Albina Reyes and Ernesto Placencio. Rito was a strong hard working man, he served in the U.S Army during World War II, and worked construction most of his adult life. He was a member of the Moose Lodge for many years and had his own nicknames for everyone at the lodge. He was fondly known by all his close friends as the "Mayor". He enjoyed cutting wood with his family and friends and enjoyed his morning coffee Grandma's Cafe. Rito will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Rito is survived by seven sons; Rito Placencio (Angie), Ruben Placencio , Nick Placencio (Chris), Louis Placencio (Rachel) David Placencio, James Placencio, and Ronnie Placencio; four daughters Aurora Acosta, Mary Rita Amador (Felix), Linda Medina, and Irene Legarda. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; one sister Martha Bueno (Genaro) of Las Cruces. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Helen Placencio, seven siblings and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Saturday, September 26, 2020, from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at Baca’s Funeral Chapels. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will follow thereafter. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Funeral Chapels.
