pilarPilar D. Aguilera, 89, of North Hurley, New Mexico passed away on December 8, 2020 at Sierra Providence Hospital in El Paso, Texas.

Pilar was born in Janos, Mexico to Manuel Duran and Francisca Flores of Janos, Mexico. Pilar was a homemaker all of her life. She love making and baking cakes and bread. Especially her “Bear Cakes” for birthdays. She took pride in her appearance and had an elegance about her. She was a Catholic throughout her life. Grandma wasn’t just a grandma to her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. She was their friend. They could talk to her about anything and always leave with wide counsel. Pilar’s grandkids and great grandkids love hearing stories about her life. Pilar was sure even when sick to make her contribution to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital every month. Pilar grew the sweetest and delicious sugar canes and shared them with all.

Pilar is survived by Luzy Silva from Silver City, N.M.; Manuela a.k.a. Nellie Rodriguez; Frank Aguilera Jr. from Santa Clara, N.M.; Mando Aguilera( Amanda) from North Hurley, N.M.; Veronica Araiza (Peter Martinez) from Bayard, N.M.; 14 Grandchildren; 24 Great Grandchildren; and 5 Great Great Grandchildren.

Pilar is proceeded in death by her husband, Francisco C. Aguilera; Lawrence Aguilera (Son); Roberto L. Silva (Son-in-Law); Christina Aguilera (Daughter-in-Law).

Cremation has been entrusted to Baca's Funeral Chapels - Silver City. Funeral Services will be held at a later date.
