Diana Montes Thomas, 58, a resident of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest Friday, January 14, 2022. She was born December 2, 1963 in Silver City, NM to Frank Montes and Jeanie Garcia Montes.

Diana was a 1981 graduate of Silver High School. She was a certified nurse’s assistant for 20 plus years. She loved her clients and they loved her. She had a passion for cooking and making jerky to sell. One of her favorite hobbies was rock painting. She loved loud rock n roll music. She had a big heart and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Diana’s unforgettable smile greeted everyone she met. She was well known in the community and will be missed.  

She is survived by her parents, Frank and Jeanie Montes of Silver City; one son, Michael Simpson of Silver City; four daughters, Michaela Simpson and companion Goyo Altamirano of Silver City; Kristina Sykes and husband Brandon of Fort Worth, TX; Julie Cohn and husband Shawn of Velarde, NM; Pamela Duda of Rio Rancho, NM; five grandchildren, Liana Cohn, and Preston Cohn; Kaleb and Emma Sykes; Angel Duda, David Altamirano IV; one brother, Joseph Montes of Silver City.  

The holy rosary will be recited by Ramon Montes on Tuesday, January 25 at 10am at St. Francis Newman Center. The memorial mass will commence at 11am with Father Peter Okonkwo officiating. Concluding service inurnment will follow at St Vincent Catholic cemetery.
