Sofia Jean Castillo, 55, a resident of Silver City, NM, entered eternal rest, Thursday May 12, 2022 at Mountain View Hospital in Las Cruces, NM. Sofia was born on August 10, 1966 in Silver City, NM to her parents Eliseo “Cheo” Ortiz and Cornelia “Cornie” Padilla.  

Our dearest lover, mother, and gamma entered eternal rest surrounded by her family. For 37 years she was cherished by her loving husband James P. Castillo. She was born is Silver City, NM and raised in Santa Clara NM. She married and gave birth to three girls. Robin, Jennifer and Andrea, her strength in Christ and her love for her family was her anchor. Sofia’s life was full of adventure. She enjoyed riding her Harley, going camping with her family, and going for rides with her Lover and their Oldies. Sofia cherished every moment with her granddaughter Adalyn Arlene Alcorta.

She was survived by her beloved husband James “Pete” Castillo, her daughters, Robin Castillo; Jennifer Snedeker (Chad); and Andrea Castillo (Henry) and her Grandchildren Adalyn and Diego Alcorta. Her Father Eliseo “Cheo” Ortiz. Her sister Maxine Jimenez (Mike) her brothers Paul Ortiz (Trina) and David Ortiz (Michelle) and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Cornelia “Cornie” Padilla Ortiz and her grandparents David and Lupe Padilla & Pablo and Rita Ortiz.

Rosary will be held Wednesday, May 18 at 9:30am at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Deacon Richard Rodriguez reciting. Memorial mass will follow at 10am officiated by Father Casmir Anozie.
