Barbara G. Norris M.D., 70, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at her residence. She was born to Harold and Florence (Holman) Norris 21 November 1951 at Hillcrest General Hospital in Silver City, NM. She passed due to Ovarian Cancer.  

Barbara attended Cliff Consolidated School for 12 years, graduating 1969. She received her BS Biology from New Mexico Tech, Socorro, NM in 1973. She completed her MD degree from UNM School of Medicine 1978. Barbara completed a rotating internal medicine internship at Naval Regional Medical Center, Oakland, CA 1979. She graduated from US Naval Aerospace Medical Institute 1979 and was designated Naval Flight Surgeon #3572. She served with the 3rd Marine Air Wing from 1980-1982. She completed her Family Practice Residency at St. Joseph Medical Center in Stamford, CT 1989. She was certified by the American Board of Family Medicine from 1989 till retirement 2016.

Barbara worked in Emergency Departments in Gallup, Roswell, and Albuquerque, NM from 1989-2011 and in Urgent Care in Silver City, NM from 2011-2016. She also did locum tenens work in Emergency Departments in Australia and New Zealand.

Barbara was married to George Kennedy, MD from 1976-2004. They became the proud parents of Benjamin Kennedy (1984).  

She is survived by her son, Benjamin; four brothers, Michael, David, John, and Thomas Norris; three sisters, Mary Whetten, Katherine Dickerson, and Susan Brewster.
