vasquez 01Pedro (Peter) Costales Vasquez of Santa Clara, NM, was called home by our Lord and Savior on March 18, 2023, due to complications from open heart surgery at Memorial Medical in Las Cruces. He was born on January 29, 1963, to Francisco (Kico) and Maria (Tundie) Vasquez.

Peter was well known by many and will be greatly missed. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. He enjoyed the kitchen, cooking for his family and friends. You couldn’t say you weren’t hungry because he would serve you anyways. Peter loved spending time with his grandkids, Julian and Keira, playing pool with them out at the carport.

Peter was a humble, caring, and loving family man who enjoyed helping people. He was always cracking jokes, mostly about himself, like his “trigger” finger or saying something like “you like my T-shirt, I bought it for fifty cents at a rummage!” Peter was a devout Catholic who enjoyed reading the Bible and praying his rosary. He would hang out in his garage doing woodwork, wire crafting, working on his yard. Peter worked as a caregiver for a long part of his life, which is something he truly enjoyed doing.

He is survived by his wife Ramona Telles Vasquez, daughter Cassandra Vasquez Neal, (LaRon), granddaughters Tiprece, Sativa, Jessy; son Christopher Chavez Vasquez and companion Jayden Pierpoint, step-son Brandon Cisneros, (Jocelyn) and grandchildren Neveah, Jaime, Ava; step-son, Adrian Luna (Vashti); step-son Carlos Luna (Ashley); step-son Eric Maez (Kyla); step-daughter Michelle Cisneros, fiancé Peter Bolivar, and grandchild Michael; sisters, Sandra Estrada (Juan), Pauline Vasquez, and Ruthie Vasquez; Goddaughter Selina Castillo, Uncle Rudy (Opie) Vasquez; nieces Erica and Naomi Estrada; Alyssa Licht;  and nephews Anthony Dominguez, Dominic Dominguez, Jerry Dominguez, Thomas Castillo, and Vincent Castillo.

He was preceded death by his nephew Diego Luis Dominguez, and his parents Kico and Tundie Vasquez. Pete Vasquez loved his family more than life itself. We would love to see everyone that loved him present at his celebration of life.

The holy rosary will be recited on Monday, April 3 at 10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Deacon Art Gutierrez reciting. The memorial mass will follow at Santa Clara Catholic Church at 11am with Father Casmir Anozie officiating. Concluding service and inurnment will take place at Santa Clara cemetery.  Honorary pallbearers are Juan Estrada, Arnold Torres, Raymond Chavez, Tommy Castillo, Paul Palacios, Edward Vasquez, Ruben Carreon, Fernando Castillo, Marvin Morales, Gabriel “Snuffy” Ortega, Jerry Dominguez, Frank Aguilera, and Trini Bastillos.

Cremation has taken place at Terrazas Crematory. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Crematory “Trusted care for the ones you love” ~ 575-537-0777. To send condolences,
