Genevieve Delgado Ramos, 82, a resident of Las Cruces, NM entered eternal rest on Saturday April 22, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Genevieve was born on January 2, 1941, in Santa Rita, NM, to her parents Luis and Martha Delgado. She was one of 12 siblings, six girls and six boys. She grew up in the small mining town of Santa Rita throughout her childhood and teenage years. When she was 15 years old, she met the love of her life Gilbert J Ramos of Hurley, NM. When Genevieve turned of age, she married Gilbert and moved to Omaha, Nebraska as Gilbert had just joined the United States Airforce. Shortly after moving to Omaha, they gave birth to their loving son Gilbert Ramos Jr. During the course of their adult years Gilbert and Genevieve traveled the United States, living in many different cities and states. They also spent a great amount of time traveling the world and lived in Japan for 3 years. After they returned to the US, they settled in Sierra Vista, AZ. While living in Sierra Vista Genevieve worked as a key punch operator for the finance department of the U.S. Army on Ft. Huachuca.

To add to Genevieve’s Family, Gilbert Ramos Jr married his beautiful wife Beverly Quijada (Ramos) and shortly after gave birth to a son, Gabriel Luis Ramos. After the birth of Gabriel, Genevieve dedicated her life to her family. She was always present to ensure Gabriel was spoiled, a delicious meal was prepared, and each family member was loved. During the summer months Gilbert and Genevieve would spend their time in Alpine, AZ where they owned a summer home. Going for evening drives, watching the leaves turn color, fishing, camping and waiting for the elk to come visit Genevieve on her front porch was what she loved to do. When their grandson, Gabriel, moved to Las Cruces for college, Gilbert and Genevieve were sure to follow. In 2009 they left Sierra Vista and moved to Las Cruces. Genevieve appreciated Las Cruces as she was always visiting her brothers and sisters, enjoying red enchiladas for dinner on Fridays, and loved going to the movies for a date night with her husband Gilbert. Soon after they moved to Las Cruces Gilbert and Beverly followed.

Once the Ramos family was together in Las Cruces, Gabriel found and married the love of his life, Ashley (Butler) Ramos. After their marriage, Gabriel and Ashley blessed the family with 3 boys. Gilbert and Genevieve were now great grandparents to Gabriel David, Aidan Xavier, and Avery Grey. The 3 great grandsons were the light of Genevieve’s life, “My little sunshine’s”, as she had titled them. Genevieve was an exceptional woman, daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, friend and so much more. She will be greatly missed, always remembered, and forever loved. 

She is survived by her loving husband, Gilbert Ramos Sr of the family home; her son, Gilbert Ramos Jr and wife Beverly of  Las Cruces; one grandson, Gabriel Ramos and wife Ashley of Las Cruces; three great grandchildren, Gabriel David, Aidan Xavier, and Avery Grey Ramos; two brothers, Luis Delgado Jr. and wife Mary of Bayard; David “Davey” Delgado  and wife  Barbara of Bayard; three sisters, Nora Sedillos of Las Cruces; Teresa Galindo of Las Cruces; Carol Montes of Silver City; two sisters in-law, Lucille Delgado of Santa Clara, and Rachel Delgado of Silver City. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Moises, Richard, Freddy and Joe Delgado; two sisters, Lily Duran and Evangelina Delgado; three brothers in-law, Reynaldo Sedillos, Manuel Galindo, and Benny Montes.

Visitation will be Friday, April 28 from 9:30-10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary to be recited by Dr. Gilbert Arizaga to commence at 10am. The funeral mass will follow at 11:30am at Infant Jesus Shrine with Father Casmir Anozie officiating. Concluding serv ice and interment will be at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Pallbearers are Paul Montes, Ray Sedillos, Johnny Ray Sedillos, Manuel Galindo, Ralph Ramos and Gilbert Madrid.
