QuesadaMMatilde Martinez Quesada, 86, of El Paso passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at El Paso LTAC Hospital.

Visitation for Matilde will take place at five o’clock in the evening on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Silver City, NM. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at six o’clock. The Prayer Vigil will follow immediately thereafter. Deacon Richard Maynes will officiate. The Mass of Christian Burial will commence at eleven-thirty in the morning on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at the Infant Jesus Shrine in Hurley, NM. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at one o’clock in the afternoon at Fort Bayard National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her loving husband, Claudio N. Quesada. Father Casmir Anozie will officiate.

Casket Bearers are her son, Raul Quesada; grandson, Alejandro Arcia; grandson, Joe Flores; granddaughter, Jennifer Crumbley; granddaughter, Debbi Quesada-Toth; granddaughter, Danielle Montgomery.

Honorary Casket Bearers are all of her remaining grandchildren.

Matilde was born March 14, 1937 in San Lorenzo, NM to Martin Parra and Antonia Peña Martinez. Following her high school education from the first graduating class of Cobre High School, Class of 1956, Matilde then studied cosmetology which resulted in a successful career and business. Matilde was a devoted mother and grandmother to all of her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children, Rita Farmer (Michael); Raul Quesada (Marylou); and Reina Arcia (Ernesto); two sisters, Lumina Barboza of Modesto, CA and Nellie Abalos of Silver City. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren.

Matilde is preceded in death by her parents Martin P. and Antonia P. Martinez; her loving husband, Claudio N. Quesada; five brothers, Pete, Reymundo, Martin Jr, Nicholas, and Gonzalo Martinez; three sisters, Antonia Laney, Mary Ellen Martinez, and Silveria Martinez.
