TremblyLLois passed away at home in Silver City, NM, surrounded by loved ones.

She is survived by her daughters Toni (Trembly) Noonan of Santa Rosa, CA, Carla (Trembly) Rogers of Santa Fe, NM, her sisters Drusella (Hewitt) Wilkinson, Nina (Hewitt) Dorn, Georgia Hewitt, and Karen Hewitt. Along with many nieces, nephews, and nearly 120 first cousins.  Lois was preceded in death by her parents’ Connie and Toni Hewitt, husband James Robert Trembly, and her brother Connie Joe Hewitt.

 Lois was born in Rincon and raised in Hatch NM. She attended college at Western New Mexico University where she completed her bachelor’s (1965) and master’s (1972) degrees. Jim and Lois built a home and raised their family in the Mimbres Valley.  Lois taught English in the Cobre school system for nearly 30 years where she also coached volleyball and basketball and sponsored many school activities. Lois was inducted into the WNMU School of Education Hall of Fame in 2012. Lois loved all her girls deeply and their families.  She spent lots of time razzing her sons-in-law Jim Noonan and Paul Rogers.  Her absolute pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren Kelly Jo (Noonan) Sanchez, Freddy Sanchez, Dahlia Sanchez of Rohnert Park, CA; Colleen (Noonan) Reed, Julian Reed, Bowen Reed, Bonniebell Reed of Guerneville, CA; Curtis Rogers of Denver, CO; and Cassandra Rogers of Tuscon, AZ.  Lois was a mother figure to several other “daughters” including Ruth Mattocks Halvorsen, Beva Garcia Patera, and Denise Sifuentes.  Lois was a big college basketball fan who attended eleven March Madness tournaments with her husband, her brother’s family, and grandson. Lois loved playing cards with her friends, was an avid seamstress and greeting card maker.

A celebration of life will be held for both Jim & Lois Trembly on December 30, 2023, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Mimbres Roundup Lodge located at Acklin Hill Road, north of Highways 35 & 152 Junction in Mimbres, NM. Family and friends are encouraged to join us.
