maynesobitMary Lou Maynes, 78, a resident of Santa Clara, NM, went into the arms of our Lord, alongside her daughter, Sara, on Wednesday, November, 29, 2023, tragically at their residence. She was born on June 28, 1945 to her parents, Benito and Frances (Quintana) Ortega in Jerome, AZ.

Mary Lou was well known for her contagious laugh, playful personality and generous heart. Just like her daughter Sara she enjoyed gambling with her family where she would often sit and play dice, lotteries and other games. She also loved to go traveling with her two sisters to casinos. Her beautiful big laughs and contagious smile. She adored her grandchildren and was an amazing, loving, devoted and doting mother and grandmother. She had a heart of gold that knew no distain. Her family will always and forever love and miss all her beauty and grace.

She is survived by her three sons, Louis Maes of Phoenix, AZ, Freddie Maes of Deming, NM and Eddie Maynes Jr. of Santa Clara, NM; her three daughters Geraldine Maynes (Lalo) of St. Louis, MO, Rose Gonzales (Ray) of Catalina, Dolores Maynes (Rod) of Bayard; her two brothers, Modesto "Moe" Ortega of Santa Clara, NM, Eustaquio Ortega of Albuquerque; her three sisters, Petra Kirker of Las Vegas, NV, Mela Gonzales of Santa Clara, NM and Benita Jaramillo (Juan) of Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward "Eddie" Maynes; her daughters, Mary Lou Maynes and Sara Maes; her brother, Tony Ortega; her sister, Cezaria Ortega and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren

The services will be combined for both mother and daughter. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 6th from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the holy rosary to commence at 6pm with Deacon Richard Maynes reciting. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 7th at 9am at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Casmir Anozie officiating. Concluding the service, an interment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Eddie. Pallbearers are Rodrigo Rodriguez, Jr., Anthony Gonzales, Matt Chacon, Anthony Chacon, Robert Ortega and Eric Gonzales.
