It is with a heavy heart we share the sudden loss of our beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and nephew Jesus Delgado (Ponchito), who entered eternal rest on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

The viewing will begin at four thirty in the afternoon with the recitation of the Holy Rosary following at six on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at ten in the morning on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at St Ann’s Catholic Church with the rite of committal and interment following at Mountain View Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Carlos Delgado, Pepe Torres, Saul Apodaca, Jose Tarango, Leroy Ayala, Tommy Gonzalez, Gibby Villegas, and Henry Jimenez. Honorary pallbearers are Daniel Delgado, Jesus Nieto, David Padron, Emilio Jimenez, Martin Zuniga & Javi Paul.

Ponchito was born in Deming, New Mexico on April 20, 1986 to Jesus and Anna Delgado. Ponchito was a very loving and caring person that enjoyed activities with his family and friends. He also loved splurging on the little ones who knew him as uncle Chet and would often do things to make them feel special. Ponchito lived life to the fullest and was always willing to accept a challenge.

He was the life of any party and made everyone feel welcome, like family. He loved dancing, camping, fishing, singing karaoke regardless of how he sounded and many other outdoor activities. While as a young adult he faced many challenges, but he was able to set a new course and triumphed over his past. Ponchito worked several jobs but recently started a successful small business, JD’s Tire Service, providing emergency roadside assistance, once again helping people in need. He would drive all night to get a stranded cousin even though he had to work the next morning. When asked why, he would say, that is just what you do for family.  His family and friends were his life and he would do anything for them. His heart was so big, he made an impact on everyone he met.

Ponchito is survived by his parents Jesus and Anna Delgado (Nieto) of Deming, NM; three siblings Daniel (Cassandra) Delgado of Las Cruces, NM, Carlos Delgado (Jessica Trujillo) of Midland TX, and Cynthia Delgado of Deming, NM; paternal grandparents Jose Delgado of Sunland, NM and Catalina Salas of El Paso, TX; uncles and aunts, among them Socorro (Nelly) Tarango, Jesus (Jennifer Smyer) Nieto and Luz (John Easterday) Nieto; nephews and nieces Xaylen, Kamryn and Layla and numerous cousins.

He is preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents Carlos & Eduwiges Nieto, Manuel & Jovita Zuniga; grandparents, Jose & Maria Nieto; uncles, Miguel Nieto, Alfonso Zuniga, Luis Zuniga, Ruben Torres; aunts, Maria Nieto; paternal great grandparents Jesus and Inez Salas and Alfonso Delgado.
