JimenezManuelManuel Olivas Jimenez, 84, passed away in his home, surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday March 9, 2024. He was a beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather.

Manuel was born on August 29, 1939, in Rincon, New Mexico to parents Mateo and Aurora Jimenez. He graduated from Las Cruces High School and went on to join the United States Air Force, where he rose to the rank of sergeant. He married his dear wife Mary Margaret Orosco on January 5,1963, and they welcomed three children together. They were married 57 years until her passing in 2020. After his time in the Air Force, he worked as an engineering technician for the highway department for many years until his retirement in 1991.

Many will remember Manuel’s love for photography, as he leaves behind decades of precious memories carefully documented for his many descendants. Some will remember his love for technology and how he was always the go-to guy for fixing computers. The way he skillfully played the guitar by ear will always be remembered by those who were lucky enough to hear it. And lastly, he will be remembered for his endless love for his family and the generous heart that made him who he was.

Manuel is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Mary; 2 children Marilicia and Manny; a brother Jose; 2 sisters Paula and Enedina (Niney), and his sister-in-law, Carolina.

He is survived by his daughter, Maggie (Shane); a daughter-in-law Lisa; 2 brothers Ben and Abel (Angel); 3 sisters Martha (Ernie), Ernestina “India” (Oscar), and Loida (Martin); a sister-in-law Mary Jane, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers will serve as Shane Shores, Alex Montano, Tommy (T.J.) Montano, Tommy (Tajie) Montano, Alex Manuel (Manbear) Montano and Francisco Martinez.

A viewing will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Baca’s Funeral Chapel in Deming, New Mexico from 4 to 6pm. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Baca’s from 10 to 11am with the final inurnment to follow immediately at Mountain View Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Air Force. Cremation has been entrusted to Baca’s Mimbres Crematory.
