As many people are aware of, chambers of commerce are often asked to help a new business with a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate a grand opening. In fact, we will be helping with two such ceremonies in October.

This Friday, October 2, the Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce will help celebrate the grand opening of TGI Pizza located at 801 North Hudson. The ribbon cutting event will begin at 10:30 a.m. This is Silver City's newest pizza restaurant, and I can personally attest that their pizza buffet offers a quick, great-tasting lunch at a very fair price.

Then on Saturday, October 17, the chamber of commerce will be on-hand at 11 a.m. to help with the ribbon cutting ceremony for Silver City Coop's Market Café at 614 North Bullard Street. People have been enjoying The Market Café, however October 17th will mark their official grand opening, and we're excited to help with this event. So here's another good dining opportunity located in the downtown area of Silver City.

Besides grand openings, we also help celebrate anniversaries for members. On Saturday, October 17, the owners of Ironworks 24-7 Fitness will enjoy the completion of their first year of business in Silver City. Jeremy and Christy Gonzales will celebrate their one-year anniversary with a cook-out, some fitness competitions, and a ribbon cutting event at 1 p.m. Ironworks 24-7 Fitness is located at 1775 Highway 180 East - Suite 3 in Silver City.

And it will not be too much longer before we will announce a day and time for the Silver Trailer and Truck Accessories ribbon cutting. The owner of Silver Trailer and Truck Accessories is investing in our community by erecting a new building between Silver City and Santa Clara on Highway 180 East. We look forward to helping celebrate the completion of their new location.

So how much money is each of these businesses paying to have the chamber of commerce help with the ceremonies? Nothing... nada... nil... zero bucks... because they are members of the chamber of commerce, and this is one of the membership benefits. So how much would it cost for a non-member to get the Chamber to help with their event? $175.00 paid in advance. Why in advance? Because we have had businesses use our services to help market their new business, then they didn't pay to join. It's a shame there are business owners/managers that do unethical things, but they do sometimes. We want businesses to be successful. We want them to survive in the current economy we are experiencing. But we can no longer give away our services for free.

If you are interested in a ribbon cutting ceremony or a ground breaking ceremony, if you wish to learn more about a chamber of commerce membership... call our office at 575-538-3785. In the meanwhile, I hope you will attend one of these three ribbon cutting ceremonies:

  • TGI Pizza on Friday, October 2 at 10:30 a.m.
  • The Market Café on Saturday, October 17 at 11 a.m.
  • Ironworks 24-7 Fitness on Saturday, October 17 at 1 p.m.
