This Friday will be a busy day at the Chamber of Commerce. We will start the morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony for the offices of the Grant County Community Foundation at 10:00 a.m. Although their offices have been located at 1106 North Pope Street in Silver City, New Mexico for a while, there never was an event for the public to stop by and check them out. Well, now you can, so please stop by on Friday – November 16 at 10:00 a.m. Rather than having to search for a street number, the Grant County Community Foundation is located in the old Silver City Office of Sustainability building just south of Gough Park (used to be a gas station). We hope you can come by and meet some of the Grant County Community Foundation Board of Directors and learn what they do for this community.

Then at 6:00 p.m., Friday evening, November 16, the doors open at the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business and Conference Center for the annual Grant County Awards Banquet. The cost for Chamber Members is $40.00 each, or a table for eight is $280.00. The cost to non-chamber members is $45.00 each or $320.00 for a table of eight. There are still a few seats left. You can call our office at (575) 538-3785 to purchase tickets.

So, who will be honored this year?

  • 2018 Grant County Volunteer of the Year – Kim Clark
  • 2018 Linda Kay Jones Humanitarian Award – Dorothy Pfeifer
  • 2018 Grant County Small Business of the Year – Western Bank (Silver City)
  • 2018 Grant County Large Business of the Year – Mountain Ridge Ace Hardware
  • 2018 Grant County Citizen of the Year – Gary Stailey

There are so many great businesses and hard-working people in Grant County. We are pleased that each year we have the opportunity to honor some of the best of the best our county has to offer.

PNM is the corporate sponsor for this banquet. We appreciate their financial assistance to make this such a special event for our area.
