The superintendent, board and central office administration are all very proud of the grades each school has earned. The amount of effort that goes into each grade is to be commended. The grading system may need work on the formula used to produce each letter grade, but what doesn't need improved upon is the amount of work that went into each school by both the teachers and the students. They were all aware of what was at stake here, and there is a sense of pride in knowing the work is recognized. The superintendent and central office administration are aware of the effort given by each student to generate the letter grade given to each school. The board is proud of their work and encourages them to continue to believe that they can do quality work.

Senator Morales set up a meeting with Board President Trent Petty and the superintendent last Friday, August 8, to talk about career pathways and what we are doing in the Silver Consolidated School District to start up a process by which students and families who feel a career in welding, building trades, child care, and auto might discover a better path to go, than a standard four-year college degree when they finish high school.

Senator Morales reminded us that he and Dick Pool had this idea some time ago, and that they had initiated talks with the Cobre Schools to serve students in Grant County. The senator reminded us that some of the talks that current Superintendent Streib had been giving around town lately sounded as if it were his idea, and I don't want to give or leave that impression. We must not forget the hard work the senator and the former superintendent have done to further educational opportunities for Grant County students. It is one of Silver Consolidated Schools' goals to further that into reality and offer more choices for our students.
