On Saturday, October 4, from 11 am to 5 pm, Main Street in Pinos Altos will be transformed from the sleepy little village, established in 1860 when gold was discovered, into the eclectic, festive annual event, October Fiesta. The event is a benefit for the Pinos Altos Volunteer Fire Department. The event is a community effort, created to celebrate the diversity of the music and food heritage of Grant County. Become part of the event by dressing in traditional Western, German or Spanish Costumes.

The "Pinos Altos Fire Chefs" will be selling brats with all the fixings. The spectacular chefs really enjoy their work and plan out every detail of the menu in anticipation of a large crowd. There will also be music on the street to enhance the festive aspect of the event experience. Artisan craft vendors and community engagement booths also add to the festive atmosphere of October Fiesta. Learn about the heritage of the area from the "Gila Rangers", Silver City Museum, Pinos Altos Museum and a special guest, "Pat Garrett", checking up on "Billy the Kid".

The Buckhorn Saloon will be open for lunch. The Opera House will be transformed into a "Beer Garden" for the day. From noon to 1 pm, Mike Moutoux, the Enchanted Cowboy, will perform on stage in the Opera House.

October Fiesta is a day to celebrate our rural community and a day to share a great experience with visitors and residents alike. For details, visit Pinos Altos October Fiesta on Facebook or contact Lucy Whitmarsh, Pinos Altos Volunteer Fire Rescue Chief, at 575-574-8394 or lmwk@dishmail.net.
