COMCAST CARES DAY Benefiting Mimbres Region Arts Council Programing GǣLeaves of ChangeGǥ Mural at the Office of Sustainability

The Comcast Corporation and the Mimbres Region Arts Council are coming together once again on Saturday, April 30, 2016, from 9am to 3pm, for the 15th Annual Comcast Cares Day.

Every year on Comcast Cares Day, Comcast brings together tens of thousands of Comcast employees, their families and friends to make a positive impact on neighborhoods across the country. Silver City will once again benefit greatly from this community event. This year the Mimbres Region Arts Council will spearhead GǣLeaves of Change,Gǥ the beautification of the Office of Sustainability, 1106 N Pope Street.

Join us at the Office of Sustainability for the transformation of the canopy over the gas pumps into a fresh green scene. Leaves will be made from mural cloth, decorated with pattern, and applied.

Bring your grandkids, bring your grandparents, it's not just for kids, but for the whole community! Be a part of this mural and support Mimbres Region Arts Council arts programming. For each volunteer who works on the mural by either painting a leaf or helping to install them, Comcast will donate to the MRAC.

The Comcast Foundation will also provide grants to local community partner organizations across the country on behalf of everyone who volunteers on Comcast Cares Day. The grants will help Comcast's community partners continue their mission of serving the community throughout the year.

At the Mimbres Region Arts Council we firmly believe that the future foundation of our community lies in its young people. We understand the importance of ensuring that our future generations have a grounded and well-rounded appreciation of how the arts affect our everyday lives. Under the direction of Diana Ingalls Leyba of Leyba & Ingalls Arts, Silver City school students have already begun creating leaves that will be applied to the Office of Sustainability at Saturday's event.

Any members of the community who share the same vision are welcome to bring their volunteer energy to the Office of Sustainability. Comcast will provide free hot dogs and sodas for lunch to all who participate.
