THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN EL PASO HAS ISSUED AN

* ARROYO AND SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY FOR...
  EAST CENTRAL GRANT COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST NEW MEXICO...

* UNTIL 500 PM MDT

* AT 255 PM MDT...YOUR NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR
INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAINFALL OVER THE SOUTHERN BLACK
RANGE.  RADAR ESTIMATED UP TO ONE AND ONE HALF INCHES OF RAINFALL IN
THE LAST HOUR OVER THIS AREA. RIVERS AND STREAMS OFF THIS RANGE
WHICH DRAIN INTO THE COMMUNITIES OF MIMBRES...SOUTHEAST TO
SHERMAN...ILL LIKELY EXPERIENCE RAPID RUNOFF FROM THIS ACTIVITY.


* LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE...
  SAN LORENZO...
  SAN JUAN...
  MIMBRES...
  IRON CREEK CAMPGROUND...

RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE MINOR FLOODING TO
OCCUR...ESPECIALLY ALONG SMALL STREAMS AND NEAR LOW WATER CROSSINGS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE
YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS...OR CREEKS WHICH CAN BECOME
KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS. CAMPERS AND HIKERS SHOULD AVOID STREAMS OR
CREEKS AND MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

IN HILLY TERRAIN THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF LOW WATER CROSSINGS WHICH ARE
POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IN HEAVY RAIN. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRAVEL ACROSS
FLOODED ROADS. IT ONLY TAKES A FEW INCHES OF SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER TO
CARRY VEHICLES AWAY.
