...MORE SNOW POSSIBLE FOR THE MOUNTAINS OF SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO
THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...

.ANOTHER IN A SERIES OF FAST MOVING PACIFIC TROUGHS WILL MOVE INTO
THE STATE TODAY AND TONIGHT. THIS SYSTEM WILL PRODUCE SNOW SHOWERS
OVER THE REGION...ESPECIALLY THE HIGHER MOUNTAINS. SNOW AMOUNTS
FROM THIS EVENT WILL VARY GREATLY... WITH A SIZABLE PORTION OF THE
AREA GETTING THREE TO FIVE INCHES FROM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH
TOMORROW MORNING. SOME AREAS OF THE ADJACENT FOOT HILLS LIKE
SILVER CITY MAY SEE 1 TO 3 INCHES OF SNOW OVER NIGHT. TRACE
AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE DESERT LOWLANDS AS WELL.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN EL PASO TX/SANTA TERESA HAS
ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM
11 AM THIS MORNING TO 11 AM MST THURSDAY.

* EVENT: SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 5 INCHES ABOVE 7000 FEET WITH
1 TO 3 INCHES POSSIBLE AT LOWER ELEVATION FOOT HILLS. SNOW
AMOUNTS WILL VARY GREATLY WITH SOME AREAS NOT RECEIVING AS MUCH
SNOW.

* TIMING: LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS MAY BEGIN BY MID MORNING AND SHOULD
INCREASE IN INTENSITY BY THIS AFTERNOON...CONTINUING THROUGH THE
NIGHT AND ENDING TOMORROW MORNING.

* IMPACT: ROADS WILL BECOME SNOW PACKED AND ICY...RESULTING IN
SLIPPERY ROAD CONDITIONS.

* WINDS: WINDS WILL BE FROM THE EAST AT 15 TO 25 MPH WITH STRONGER
GUSTS ALONG THE WEST FACING SLOPES AND THROUGH PASSES.

* SNOW LEVELS: COLD TEMPERATURES ASSOCIATED WITH A STRONG COLD
FRONT AND ARCTIC AIR MASS WILL MAKE SNOW POSSIBLE FOR ALL
ELEVATIONS OVERNIGHT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW...SLEET...OR
FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR
SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE
DRIVING.
