Bobby Brickey, 83, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Sunday August 5, 2018 at his residence.
He was born May 11, 1935 in Wise County, VA to Lonnie Brickey and Janie Stidham.
At the age of 18, he enlisted and proudly served his country with the United States Army. He continued with his military career until 1967.
He was employed as an electronic technician.
He was quite a collector; aside from a model train collection he also collected model cars.
He was a jack of all trades; he loved to restore guns and guitars, he could fix anything. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed going fishing with his family.
Of all his grandchildren, two were very close to him, Jared and Christopher.
He was a member of the Moose, Elk's, and Masonic Lodge. He was looked up to and respected by many who knew him, he will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita H. Brickey, of the family home; one son, Greg Brickey of El Paso, TX; step-son, Roberto Padilla of TX; two daughters, Jennifer Brickey of Pinos Altos; Christine Lazaro of Racine, WI; step-daughter, Roberta Hernandez of Silver City; seven grandchildren, Zane Brickey, Jessica Silva, Jarrod Danley and Christopher Perez, Joel and Jesus Rojo, and Javier Estrada; five great-grandchildren, Jade Danley and Santiago Perez, Joel Rojo Jr, Mia and Angelina Rojo; two sisters, Patricia Kaesman of Silver City; Lois Dix of North Carolina; brother-in-law, Ramon "Natcho" Cuevas and wife Rosalinda; also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Cruzita Cuevas Brickey ('07); one son, Robert Brickey ('93); one brother, Gene Brickey; one sister, Willidine Brickey.
Visitation will be Friday, August 10 at Terrazas Funeral Chapels from 5-6 p.m. with the funeral service to begin at 6 p.m. with Pastor Joseph Gros officiating.
Inurnment will take place on Monday, August 13 at 11 a.m. with full military honors at Fort Bayard National Cemetery.
Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory.
