New Mexico Businessman Daniel Burrell has now been the focus of several articles connecting schemes used to accept payments from foreign agents to Hunter Biden in the state of New Mexico. Briefs of three court cases provide details for BGK-Rosemont (2015-2016): Birenbaum v. Burrell, USA v. Goettsche, and Augustus Intelligence.

Birenbaum states that Burrell operated CryptoWatt, whose operational facility was located in Butte, MT, while domiciled in New Mexico. Pleadings show, "Burrell has been a resident of either Colorado or New Mexico […] Burrell and BDI's project-related activities were conducted in New Mexico, Colorado, and Montana." The court establishes the inception of CryptoWatt (2017), and that "By February 2018, Birenbaum had succeeded in getting the bitcoin mining facility on the cusp of being operational" before Birenbaum was removed from the facility by Burrell, who was the Chief Executive Officer of CryptoWatt at the time.

The original indictment against Matthew Brent Goettsche, (Dec. 6, 2019) details correspondence (Nov. 2018) from Goettsche to Dan Burrell, Kevin Washington, and Kari Vanvalkenburgh, the accountant of Rick Tabish, stating "Bitcoin mining is in the toilet ,and we are dangerously close to running the facility at a complete loss. I know you think you are doing me a favor by taking a haircut on your equity buyout, but the truth is I am saving your ass giving you anything out of this and probably going down with ship." The United States alleges Goettsche and his co-conspirators obtained $722 Million from investors, of which Burrell Diversified Investments received $8.75 Million (Dec. 7, 2018), according to the Third Bill of Particulars; $81 Million dollars was transferred to CryptoWatt from Octagon Strategy Limited, a Hong Kong company (Feb. 11, 2020).

Testimony from Rick Tabish, convicted of first-degree murder and Burrell's manager in the cryptocurrency mining scheme, explains how funds generated by CryptoWatt mining would be sent to a digital wallet before being monetized by Octagon Strategy Limited. who would then transfer the funds to First Bank Western in Aspen, CO, and then transferred into CryptoWatt's account. Clause 8.08 in the operating agreement of CryptoWatt Investment Partners, LLC, signed by Dan Burrell and Matthew Goettsche states "Any Member who shall have Assigned all if his Units shall cease to be a Member of the Company, except for the purpose of determining the profits, losses, and net cash proceeds allocable to his assignee…".

Kevin Washington, a minority owner who was assigned Burrell's interest in CryptoWatt, has been named in the bankruptcy proceedings of Augustus Intelligence, an artificial intelligence company based in Germany. Kevin Washington entered into the Series Seed Preferred Stock Investment Agreement (Nov. 26, 2018) with Wolfgang Haupt, the Chief Executive Officer and Board Chairperson of Augustus Intelligence (Nov. 17, 2018), in which Washington agreed to contribute "$20,000,904 in cash and $30,000,000 in kind for an interest in certain data centers." Namely," a 19.6% interest in CryptoWatt." However, "Washington was not in a position to contribute the data centers to Augustus as he did not have management control."

"Prior to December 7, 2018, 50% of the membership interests of CW Management [CryptoWatt Management] were owned by Burrell Diversified Investments, LLC ("BDI") and the remaining 50% of the membership interests of CW Management were owned by Kevin Washington, an individual ("KW"). As of December 7, 2018, BDI transferred 100% of its ownership interest in CW Management to KW pursuant to a Membership Interest Power dated as of that date." (See Document 9, Washington v. Goettsche)

Burrell's residence (768 Hunter Creek Rd, Aspen) and 4,200-acre property (6800 Upper Creek Rd, Carbondale) in Colorado, purchased for $19.5 Million and $18.5 Million, respectively, is listed for $86.5 M, no reserve, starting bids expected between $20M-50M by Sotheby's Concierge Auction. Bidding opens Dec. 7, 2023, 5pm EST and closes Dec. 14., one day after Hunter Biden will be interviewed by the House Impeachment Committees. Taos Valley Ranch (formerly Blackstone Ranch) 247 NM-240 in Taos, New Mexico, the location of a meeting of the New Mexico Legislative Finance Committee (Apr. 27-29, 2022), is the subject of a foreclosure proceeding Century Bank v. Burrell.

Counterpoise, one of Burrell's companies, has vacated their offices in Aspen and seems to be the owner of the 4,200-acre property in Carbondale and the Taos Valley Ranch.
