Easter Bunny Visiting Southwest New Mexico

Nuacht Aoir has learned – exclusively – that the Easter Bunny is now in Southwest New Mexico. The world-renowned philanthropic leader is visiting with friends in the area of the Burro Mountains as well as in the wilderness areas of the Gila National Forest.

In an off-the-paw interview earlier this week in the Gila, the Easter Bunny told Nuacht Aoir about plans for the Easter Sunday trip this coming weekend as well as plans for the Orthodox Easter Sunday trip on the first weekend in May.

Due to the sensitive nature of these plans, Nuacht Aoir agreed to refrain from reporting on the Easter Bunny's visit here until today.

"I love coming back to Southwest New Mexico," said the Easter Bunny. "The landscapes are so beautiful. It's quite peaceful to be able to rest before the big trips."

The Easter Bunny's itinerary for this week includes visiting several sections in and around the Gila National Forest.

"On this trip, I was able to spend some time in the Blue Range Wilderness," stated the Easter Bunny. "I was able to meet with a couple spotted owls that I hadn't seen in some time. It was also wonderful to visit with the bighorn sheep and the elk."

"The water is so tasty in the Pueblo Creek," the Easter Bunny continued. "Being in the wilderness is so peaceful."

While the Easter Bunny was reticent to discuss a ceremony that took place yesterday a few miles outside of Lordsburg, Nuacht Aoir has been able to confirm that the Easter Bunny received the "Bunny Of The Year" award from the Armextex Chapter of Bunnies Amalgamated. This civic organization represents bunnies from Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas that help the Easter Bunny year-round.

"Usually, we give our highest honor to one of the bunnies that has gone above and beyond in helping the Easter Bunny," explained Thumper Bunny, Chapter Pawsident. "This year, we thought it would be a nice honor to bestow on the Easter Bunny for the outstanding philanthropic activities."

"Many people likely don't know the sacrifices made by the Easter Bunny to make the trips around the world on time," Thumper Bunny continued. "We, the bunnies of the Armextex Chapter of Bunnies Amalgamated, have seen first-paw how dedicated the Easter Bunny is to the children."

In a nod to the Easter Bunny's leadership, the basket of mixed leafy greens that was given to the Easter Bunny during the award ceremony was provided to a needy bunny family of eight living just outside of Deming.

"I was deeply honored to be named 'Bunny Of The Year' by this fine civic association," said the Easter Bunny. "It was a touching surprise."

In the next few days, the Easter Bunny plans to scurry to another section of the Gila National Forest in Grant County.

"I anticipate visiting the Sunflower Mesa during this trip," noted the Easter Bunny. "I remember how many hops between one special section of the mesa and the Sawmill Creek."

Nuacht Aoir has confirmed that travel schedules have been completed for both of the worldwide trips planned by the Easter Bunny this year, one on Easter Sunday this weekend as well as one on Orthodox Easter Sunday that will be celebrated on May 5.

While in the Gila, the Easter Bunny held discussions – by secure communications, of course – with leaders of a number of countries and territories regarding the upcoming trips.

"I have been assured by all leaders that the Easter Bunny will be given safe passage on both Easter Sunday and Orthodox Easter Sunday," stated the Easter Bunny. "While I hope that all little boys and all little girls have been good this year, the Easter Bunny believes all children are good at heart – even those children that may still be working on aspects of their goodness."

With that note of hope and with a wave of his paw, the Easter Bunny scooted off deeper into the Gila.
