Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham appointed Sabrina Pack, DBA, to the State Game Commission on March 7, 2024, and was sworn into office during the NM Game and Fish Department Commission meeting held on March 8, 2024, in Albuquerque (pictured).  Sabrina Pack will be serving on a seven-member citizens’ body. According to the NM Game and Fish Department’s website, “the commission sets hunting and fishing regulations, hires the Department of Game and Fish director, oversees spending of a more than $35 million annual budget, and sets the department’s overall direction.” 

Sabrina Pack will be representing southwest New Mexico on the Game Commission. She, along with Richard Stump, who is also a new appointment, are joining Senator Gregory Fulfer, Tirzio Lopez, Sharon Salazar Hickey, Edward Garcia, and Fernando Clemente, Jr. on the seven-member commission.

Sabrina Pack is a lifelong resident of Grant County, with ties to ranching in the area, and has a passion for the outdoors and wildlife. She holds a Doctor of Business Administration with a specialty in Management. She is an executive board member of the New Mexico Broadcasters Association, board member of the Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Grant County Prospectors, and serves on the Southern New Mexico Advisory Council (RAC). She is a marketing professional, serves as the Chief Operating Officer of SkyWest Media/Silver City Radio, and is an associate professor at WNMU.  

At the first Game Commission meeting of 2024, that was held on March 8, Sabrina Pack encouraged the commission to consider meeting in Silver City so potentially many in southwest New Mexico would be able to attend and participate in public comment about issues prevalent in the region. With discussion of the schedule, the NM Game Commission has scheduled to meet in Silver City on April 19, 2024. The details of time and location will be available closer to the date on the New Mexico Game and Fish Department’s website. At this meeting commissioners will be hearing reports from the various divisions within the Game and Fish Department as well as having a “listening session” from the public.

Sabrina Pack shares, “I am honored to be able to serve in this position. Hopefully I will be able to help with the many challenges facing the department and management of wildlife. There are many stakeholders to hear from as the Commission works to better understand those varying perspectives and formulate plans to address the issues. The first step is to better understand the needs, perceptions, issues, and challenges from all sides. I look forward to that process.”
