The Mimbres Region Arts Council presents Chocolate Fantasia, XOCOLATL: Mayan Chocolate, on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 11am to 4pm.

Saturday tickets are $25. Savor your chocolates and enjoy the music of Angelica Padilla and one-man band Flicker.

This year we are excited to add a Friday night event at the Little Toad Brewery and Distillery: $55 gets you a flight of Desserts, Chocotorta, Mini Taco Salad Bowls, and a flight of alcohol pairing, with The Illusion band playing and Full access to the event on Saturday.

Xocolatl is the Mayan word for Chocolate. This word was chosen as the theme to bring back the history of Chocolate to North America. The Mayans, along with many pre-contact cultures in North America, revered this decadent ingredient, Chocolate, as a gift from the gods. It was used in ceremony to honor the gods, one-self, and the community. Other ingredients, such as Chili and Vanilla, are all native to North, Central and South America.

We have gathered many great chocolatiers this year and asked them to keep the origin of and rich history of Xocolatl (Chocolate) in mind when creating their fabulous creations for your enjoyment this year. And there will be music throughout the town!

Tickets are available online at https://www.chocolatefantasia.org/2024-event-tickets , or by emailing chocolatefantasia@mimbresarts.org .

“Silver City has its own unique charm. Add in gourmet, handmade chocolate confections, and you’ll see why February is a sweet time to come visit,” said Simon Sotelo, Event Coordinator. “This event is one of our most anticipated annual events. We encourage those interested in attending to purchase tickets early as the event sells out each year.”

Ticket holders can cast their People’s Choice votes for best chocolates on the back of their tasting tickets, and turn in their tickets by 3 pm at Javalina Coffee House, 117 W. Market Street in Silver City.

Proceeds from Chocolate Fantasia are used to fund the Mimbres Region Arts Council programs and events which provide access and opportunity to anyone wanting to participate in meaningful arts experiences.
