Silver City, NM – Western New Mexico University announced today that Dr. Brenda K. Findley will serve as the next Vice President for Business Affairs.

Findley joins WNMU after serving more than seven years as Associate Vice President for Financial Services and Administration at the University of North Georgia. In that capacity, she oversaw several areas including the offices of comptroller, human resources, payroll, procurement, and environmental health and safety.

 

"I am so glad to be joining the WNMU team," said Findley. "Everyone I have met is a dedicated professional and I know we are going to do great work together."

Prior to her current position, Findley served as Director of Human Services at Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia. Other work experiences include financial leadership roles at the University of Houston and College of William & Mary.

"Her experiences with finance in higher education make her an excellent candidate to guide our university in the path of growth we need," said Dr. Joseph Shepard, WNMU President. "Dr. Findley has had great successes with implementing innovative changes in her capacity and we look forward to her energy and vision."

Findley has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Christopher Newport University and a Master of Arts degree in Human Resources Management from the School of Business at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. She earned a doctorate degree with a concentration in Higher Educational Leadership from the University of Houston.

Findley is married to a retired Coast Guard Petty Officer, has two children and two grandchildren. Her interests include hiking, knitting and reading. She has family in Las Cruces, Ruidoso and Alamogordo, New Mexico.

Western New Mexico University has served the people of the state of New Mexico and its surrounding areas as a comprehensive, regional, rural, public coeducational university since 1893 and serves a student body diverse in age, culture, language and ethnic background.
