On Jan. 2, at about 10 a.m., Silver City Police officers were dispatched to Billy's BBQ and Pizza, 2138 E. Highway 180, in reference to a burglary at the restaurant. Officers were told, according to police documents, that an individual, later identified as Bryan Kyle Grabbe, 37, of Silver City, had gained entry to the establishment through the front door, which had been damaged. Surveillance cameras in the restaurant showed Grabbe in the bar area where he attempted to open the register but was unsuccessful, the documents said. Footage then showed Grabbe picking up a beverage from the side of the refrigerator and taking a drink from it. Footage also showed, documents stated, Grabbe tearing down one of the surveillance cameras near the bar. At this time, Grabbe reportedly looked directly into another camera, which showed an "obvious large tattoo on the right side of the individual's neck." The restaurant's owner identified the intruder as Grabbe as he had worked for the owner as a cook for about a month in October 2014, before being terminated.

Grabbe was charged in an affidavit for arrest with one count of burglary (a fourth degree felony) for entering the business without the owner's authorization, where several items were taken without the owner's consent; one count of larceny (a fourth degree felony) for taking two 60-inch flat television screens, two homemade speakers, one JBL speaker, a case of beer, uncooked meat products, cheesecakes and coconut shrimp; and one count of criminal damage to property (a petty misdemeanor) for damaging cameras, a window frame and doors.

A SCPD arrest report states Grabbe was arrested on an active warrant out of Magistrate Court at his home in the Lintero Apartments on Jan. 7, at approximately 5:30 p.m. He was handcuffed and transported to the Grant County Detention Center for booking. GCDC confirmed to the Beat that Grabbe was still in custody on Jan. 13, under an $8,000 cash or surety bond.
