Dorothy Spangler, then 85, of Pinos Altos, charged with two counts of great bodily injury by vehicle (reckless driving), and one count each of leaving the scene of an accident (great bodily injury), and reckless driving, was scheduled to be arraigned before Judge Henry Quintero in district court Monday, Sept. 28, at about 10:30 a.m. (trailing docket).
However, Ms. Spangler €™s attorney, R. Nathan Gonzales, told the Beat that they filed a waiver of arraignment and the request for waiver was approved by the court.
Sixth District Court staff stated that as soon as paperwork arrives, Spangler will be scheduled for a plea hearing, the date of which has not yet been set.
The charges stem from Spangler hitting bicyclist Brian Robinson, a Silver City orthopedic surgeon, on Pinos Altos Road (Highway 15) on May 9, at about 2 p.m.
