Synopsis: Special Enforcement Operation
Location: Highway 180 E

Narrative:
On Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 10:00 AM till 6:00 PM officers of the Silver City Police Department initiated a Special Enforcement Operation on Highway 180 E from 32nd Street Bypass to Memory Lane Road.
This Special Enforcement Operation was initiated in an attempt to decrease traffic crashes within the defined area. “According to crash reports, intersections within this area continue to have high crash rates," commented Chief Reynolds. “We are attempting to lower the crash rates by increasing patrols in the areas designated," he continued.
During this operation a total of 92 citations were issued and 1 arrest was made.
The types of citations issued were:
· Speeding - 57
· No Drivers License - 1
· No Registration - 10
· No Insurance - 17
· Tail Lamps - 2
· Exp. Plates - 4
· Suspended Drivers License - 1
“The department will continue these Special Enforcement Operations throughout the rest of October. We are trying to decrease traffic crashes and to make roads in Silver City safer for the motoring and pedestrian public," stated Chief Reynolds.
