The 6th Judicial District Pro Bono Committee received Proclamations from the Town of Hurley, City of Bayard, Town of Silver City and Grant County Commission proclaiming October 23-29, 2011 as “Celebrate Pro Bono Week”.

The 6th Judicial District Pro Bono Committee of the Access to Justice Commission thanks the above entities who have supported “Celebrate Pro Bono Week”.

“Celebrate Pro Bono Week” recognizes many people cannot afford the high cost of legal representation and cannot proceed on their own without an attorney; and

Legal services agencies, the State Bar of New Mexico, and local bar associations throughout New Mexico have enlisted the services of volunteer attorneys to provide valuable legal services to those in need; and

In New Mexico, volunteer attorneys donate thousands of pro bono hours each year; and

The innumerable contributions of volunteer attorneys enable many people to obtain legal assistance they could not otherwise obtain; and

During October 23-29, 2011, businesses, government agencies and community organizations will be celebrating “New Mexico Pro Bono Week”.

Residents of Grant, Luna and Hidalgo counties can attend a free legal fair on a variety of topics from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at the Grant County Business & Conference Center, 3031 Hwy. 180 East (Next Door to Ace Hardware) in Silver City.
