WEATHER AND A MIX OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION TO SOUTHERN NEW
MEXICO...

.COLDER AIR WILL PUSH INTO SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO TONIGHT THROUGH
FRIDAY WHILE A DEEP UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MOVES ACROSS
THE SOUTHWESTERN UNITED STATES. THIS WEATHER PATTERN WILL BRING
HEAVY SNOWS OVER THE HIGHER MOUNTAINS OF THE REGION WITH RAIN
MIXED WITH SNOW ACROSS THE LOWLANDS. SNOW WILL INCREASE OVER THE
HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE GILAS AND SACRAMENTO'S ON FRIDAY AND
FRIDAY NIGHT WITH RAIN BECOMING MIXED WITH AND TURNING TO SNOW
OVER THE LOWER ELEVATIONS LATE FRIDAY NIGHT AND EARLY SATURDAY.
SNOW AMOUNTS WILL BE AROUND 6 TO 12 INCHES ABOVE 7000 FEET BY
SATURDAY AFTERNOON WITH AMOUNTS FROM 3 TO 5 INCHES BETWEEN 5000
AND 7000 FEET. UP TO 2 INCHES OF SNOW MAY FALL ACROSS THE DESERT
LOWLANDS...ESPECIALLY NORTH OF LAS CRUCES. MOST OF THE SNOW WILL
END BY SATURDAY AFTERNOON ALTHOUGH A FEW MOUNTAIN SNOW SHOWERS MAY
PERSIST THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN EL PASO TX/SANTA TERESA HAS
ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW WHICH IS IN EFFECT
FROM 6 AM FRIDAY TO NOON MST SATURDAY.

* TIMING...A FEW LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS WILL DEVELOP TONIGHT. RAIN OR
  RAIN MIXED WITH SNOW WILL INCREASE ACROSS THE LOWER ELEVATIONS
  ON FRIDAY WITH MOSTLY SNOW FALLING ABOVE 7000 FEET. FRIDAY NIGHT
  AND SATURDAY MORNING MOSTLY SNOW WILL FALL ACROSS THE ENTIRE
  AREA. SNOW WILL DIMINISH LATER SATURDAY MORNING ALTHOUGH A FEW
  SNOW SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON.

* WINDS...BREEZY EAST AND SOUTHEAST WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH TONIGHT
  AND FRIDAY MORNING DECREASING TO 10 TO 15 MPH FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...ABOVE 7000 FEET 6 TO 10 INCHES. 2 TO 5
  INCHES WILL OCCUR ACROSS THE LOWER ELEVATIONS.

* SNOW LEVELS...5000 FEET TONIGHT LIFTING TO 6500 FT FRIDAY.
  DROPPING BACK TO 4500 FT FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING.

* IMPACTS...HAZARDOUS DRIVING WILL OCCUR FROM SLIPPERY OR SNOW
  COVERED ROADS AND FROM LOCALLY POOR VISIBILITIES UNDER A HALF
  MILE IN HEAVIER SNOWS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW...
SLEET...AND ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO
POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.
