Sierra Vista Hospital in T or C Takes Delivery of New Ambulance

ALBUQUERQUE, NM, May 8, 2015 - USDA Rural Development State Director Terry Brunner will present the keys to a new ambulance to the administrators of the Sierra Vista Hospital in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico on Tuesday May 12, 2015.

The ceremony is being held to celebrate the delivery of the ambulance funded by USDA Rural Development through its Community Facility program.

Costing over $55,000 the new ambulance will replace equipment that is old and outdated. The new vehicle is a 4x4 ambulance which will be used for regular emergency calls but it will also be able to respond to the remote areas of Sierra County. It will replace an outdated 1996 ambulance which has almost 250,000 miles. The new vehicle is equipped with the latest medical equipment to provide emergency health care service to patients.

The hospital has a current fleet of four ambulances two of which has significant mechanical problems that seriously compromise patient safety during transport. Two of the old ambulances are now decommissioned. One was replaced by an ambulance funded by USDA Rural Development two years ago and the other is being replaced by the new 4x4 ambulance.
