Greetings!
Cordelia Rose is taking part in CLAY Festival 2016 in Silver City, NM on Wednesday 27th July 2-4pm. See www.clayfestival.com/tours-2016.html.
In 2013 we held a CLAY workshop to build an Adobe Labyrinth & Threshold in the yard of the Historic Waterworks building at 1721 Little Walnut Road, Silver City, NM. With the help of the workshop participants, Rose built a 7-circuit classic labyrinth of adobe bricks supplied by Mule Creek Adobe and partially funded by The Labyrinth Society. Zoe Wolfe created the Threshold bridge and a glazed ceramic river running under the bridge and around the edges of the Adobe Labyrinth. Much of the river is visible mounted on Zoe's Studio & Gallery stucco wall at the corner of Market and Cooper Streets.
Although visible through the fence around the Waterworks Yard on the way to the Botanic Garden, the Labyrinth will not be open to the public until restoration of the Waterworks building is complete. The Waterworks Labyrinth will be restored with stabilized adobe bricks to replace the compressed earth bricks which have now melted into soft mounded walls to delineate the path.
Rose will open the gates at 2pm on Wednesday 27th July for visitors to walk the labyrinth, see how it was made, see samples of the original and replacement bricks, learn to draw a labyrinth, and find answers to their questions about the history of labyrinths.
