Silver City, NM, October 26, 2020 -- For Immediate Release. Did you look at the pictures of the Neowise Comet, or dark sky photographs and wonder how the photographer managed to capture such beautiful imagery. Well, the Gila National Forest and the Glenwood Ranger District want to help you with some fun tips on how to take night sky photos.
The Glenwood Ranger District, Gila National Forest is hosting a free Dark Sky Photography Class on November 14 from 5:30 p.m. - 10 p.m. You don't need a fancy expensive camera to participate. Amateur photographer and FS volunteer Deborah Calkins will teach you how to use your camera to take beautiful night sky photographs. Class size is limited to five (5) people, ages 12 and up. You must sign up to participate and receive the handout for the "homework". Please contact Gila Public Affairs Officer via email at marta.call@usda.gov before October 30 at 4:00 p.m.
Selection process will be made by November 5 and you will be notified via email and sent an email and the time and place to meet. A number will be assigned to entries and a random number generator will be used if the forest receives more than five applicants. The next course Is planned for Spring 2021.
