MIMBRES, NM, Feb. 27, 2023 – Temporary closure for renovations of the Gila National Forest, Wilderness Ranger District office, located in Mimbres, New Mexico, has been extended. The office will reopen Friday, March 3. Walls have received a fresh coat of paint, while new flooring is being installed throughout the building.
“Our contractor has asked for several days more to complete his work,” said Wilderness District Ranger Henry Provencio. “I appreciate patience while our facility receives a much-needed update.”
The important work of the Wilderness District will continue, with staff working from home or field locations during the office closure. Phone callers may leave voice messages, and staff will retrieve and respond to messages each day. Those visitors in immediate need of maps, permits, or information should contact the Silver City Ranger District at 575-388-8200 or visit us at 3005 Camino del Bosque, in Silver City, New Mexico. We regret any inconveniences caused by the temporary office closure.
