Social Media Contest Encourages Visitors to Explore “The Real New Mexico”

LAS CRUCES, NM – Communities across Southern New Mexico— including Alamogordo, Deming, Las Cruces, Ruidoso, Silver City and Truth or Consequences— have teamed up to present the 2024 Scenic Southern New Mexico “Welcome to the Real New Mexico” social media photo contest. Participating cities— known for their wealth of outdoor recreation and unique hospitality businesses— will be offering a variety of prize packages allowing winning photographers to explore Southern New Mexico destinations.

Running February 1-29, 2024, the contest encourages visitors to discover something new in Southern New Mexico. To enter the photo contest, visitors can explore any of the parks, trails, outdoor spaces, restaurants, breweries, wineries, shops, local businesses, museums or hotels in participating communities. While visiting, take a photo and post it to Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #ScenicSouthernNM2024. Winners will be selected randomly, and prizes will be given away weekly, with a grand prize awarded at the end of the campaign period.

Weekly prizes will include gift cards, merchandise, and more. The grand prize will include hotel stays, attraction passes, and gift cards provided by businesses in the participating communities.

“We’re thrilled to bring back Scenic Southern and show off the beauty of ‘The Real New Mexico’,” said Rochelle Miller-Hernandez, Executive Director of Visit Las Cruces. “Southern New Mexico is full of incredible destinations, offering everything from skiing to winter hiking, biking, and camping, as well as bold flavors, historic hotels, and shops.”

Following on the heels of Las Cruces’ recent rebrand as “The Real New Mexico,” the contest extends that branding to the entire southern part of the state.

“It was always our intention to have the label of ‘The Real New Mexico’ encompass the rich cultural experiences of the southern region,” added Miller-Hernandez. “The beauty of this part of the state is unmatched.”
