The Hi Lo Silvers women's chorus will present their Spring Concert on

Friday, May 10 at 7 pm

Sunday, May 12 at 3 pm

Both concerts will be in the First Presbyterian Church (now known as The Hearth Event Center)  at 1915 N. Swan Street in Silver City.   The concerts are free.

Nada Dates will direct the chorus in songs from stage and film.

Rhonda Gorog will accompany on the piano.   Many selections will include Becky Harwood on the bass violin, Melinda McClanahan on percussion, Betsy Shook on flute and Azaima Anderson on guitar.

On Friday following intermission, Nada Dates will play the piano piece Clair de Lune by Debussy  and Valdeen Wooton, accompanied by Rhonda Gorog, will sing "Old Mother Hubbard" by Victor Hely-Hutchinson and "Why Do they Shut Me Out of Heaven?" by Aaron Copland.   Valdeen is founder of the Hi Lo Silvers and directed the chorus for fourteen years.

Following intermission on Sunday,  cellist Kevin Dvorak with accompaniment by Sotoko Goellner, will play "Songs My Mother Taught Me" by Antonin Dvorak and "Meditation" by Jules Massenet.   For many years, Mr. Dvorak played cello with the Houston Symphony and frequently performed in chamber music concerts.

The Hi Lo Silvers, founded with five members in November, 2000, has flourished under direction of Valdeen Wooton and Nada Dates to now include eighteen women.  The chorus performs concerts in December and May, and sings at Fort Bayard for many veteran celebrations.  Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 12;30 - 2:30.  Singers who would like to join the chorus may contact a member to learn about participation and arrange an audition.

Please join the Hi Lo Silvers on Friday evening and/or Sunday afternoon for some of your favorite melodies.
