Bernalillo, NM - As part of the Democratic Party of New Mexico's statewide C+¬sar Ch+ívez Day of Service, Sandoval County Democrats helped sixty-one New Mexico kids in need prepare for school. On Saturday, the Democrats filled backpacks with school supplies, comfort blankets, stuffed animals, and other items to help New Mexico children in foster care.
Representatives Daymon Ely (D-Corrales) and Derrick Lente (D-Sandia Pueblo) volunteered and helped prepare backpacks for delivery to the Children, Youth, and Family Department.
Event organizer Joey Dominguez said, "With the help and the commitment of Democrats in Sandoval County, we were able to deliver sixty-one backpacks to CYFD. We're proud to be part of this community, and Democrats know that we have a responsibility to support New Mexico kids, especially those who need it most."
This project is part of a statewide series of service projects Democrats are hosted over the weekend to honor the impact C+¬sar Ch+ívez and the Farmworkers Union made to advance human rights, fairness and dignity in the workplace.
