The New Mexico Film Office Announces the "NM Film Residency Certification Card"

Santa Fe, NM - Today, the New Mexico Film Office and the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department (TRD) announced a new way to make the hiring of New Mexico residents easier for both the film and television industries. The Taxation and Revenue Department has begun issuing New Mexico Film Residency Cards to ease the hiring process for New Mexico residents seeking employment in the industries.

By providing documentation requested on the current Declaration of Residency (such as a New Mexico driver's license, a utility bill and others), TRD will verify residency and proof of taxpayer status. New Mexico film industry residents will be issued a card (valid for one year), which can be presented to productions at the time of hiring or casting. This will save time and effort for the productions, as well as for TRD.

"We're proud to offer the people of New Mexico another tool to get good jobs in New Mexico," said Film Office Director Nick Maniatis. "I encourage any New Mexican that wants to work in the New Mexico film and television industry to apply for a Residency Certification Card."

One of the primary missions of the New Mexico Film Office is creating jobs for New Mexico residents. Film and television projects in the state are crewed primarily by New Mexicans.

"At TRD, we're committed to making the system as friendly as possible for New Mexico's taxpayers," said John Monforte, Acting Cabinet Secretary at the Taxation and Revenue Department. "This is just one more way we can improve the system and make New Mexico an easier place to find work."

In addition, TRD will be available to aid residents in the application process at the annual New Mexico Film and Media conference, which will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel: 1901 University Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102 on August 25 and August 26.
