PNM teaches importance of electricity, natural resources, and impact kids have on the environment
(ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.) – More than 3,000 students in fifth grade classrooms across New Mexico recently showed their love for energy with the PNM Home Works program that helps students learn about energy in a fun and exciting way, equips them with tools to take control of their electricity usage, all while helping their families save on their PNM bill.
The PNM Home Works program, now in its fifth year, provided energy efficiency take-home kits to more than 30,800 fifth graders across the state. The kits were filled with items to help reduce energy waste and encourages the change to start at home. This month, PNM added 54 New Mexico elementary school classrooms, talked to over 3,000 students, and taught how electricity is created, the importance of saving energy, protecting natural resources and being environmentally conscious in their own homes.
