WASHINGTON — Congresswoman Yvette Herrell (R-N.M.) today announced she will serve as Vice Ranking Member of the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources. Herrell will also serve as a member of the National Parks, Forests, and Public Lands Subcommittee.
"Nearly one-third of the land in New Mexico is managed by the federal government," said Herrell. "Managing that land well is vitally important to the communities I serve. Our state depends on it for jobs and school funding, and the nation depends on it for more than half of all the onshore oil produced on federal lands. The opportunity to serve in a leadership role on the Energy and Mineral Resources Subcommittee is both an honor and a reminder of how important these issues are to New Mexico."
Full Committee Ranking Member Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) today announced Ranking Members and Vice Ranking Members for all six subcommittees.
"We have such an incredible range of experience represented on the committee this Congress, which is why we've expanded our leadership to include vice ranking members," Westerman said. "These are members who represent districts with significant interests in their respective subcommittees, and I know they'll be fantastic assets to both the ranking members and the subcommittee members. As we prepare to take back the House in 2022, experienced leadership is essential. With this team at the helm, we are off to a great start."
Congresswoman Herrell also serves on the Oversight and Reform Committee, including both its Environment and Government Operations Subcommittees.
